A One Way Ticket to the Mars One Mission

Have you ever wondered what else is out there in this enormous thing we call a universe? Have you ever imagined a time where mankind could leave earth as we know it, and survive on another celestial planet? Well if you have, you’re in luck.

“Mars One designed a mission using only existing technology. In the coming years, a demonstration mission, communication satellites, two rovers and several cargo missions will be sent to Mars. A reliable living environment will be waiting for the astronauts when they leave Earth  (http://www.mars-one.com/ ).”

NASA is taking the next giant leap for mankind. Founded in 2011, the Mars One Plan is being established and working it’s way to its ultimate goal: leaving earth and living on mars to never return.  With the incredible technology advancements we have to date, NASA is able to assemble six teams of four and launch them into space in 2024. Now, if this seems absurd to you, try to embrace it because as of this year, the first team of four begun their training. If you click the following link, you can access a timeline of the testing, training, mission launches, and human launches that are to come: http://www.mars-one.com/mission/roadmap.

The Mars One Plan has been all over the media including places such as: Paste magazine, Good Magazine, BBC, Universe Today, KSL, The Guardian, Times Live, as well as numerous other media outlets. The almost unimaginable plan is progressing forward and has people talking. Of course, like anything, this plan has some controversy. The idea of sending four humans to a completely new lifestyle and expecting them to colonize, survive, and create a new world for themselves, is seen as a little risky to some people. On the other hand though, many are optimistic and hopeful for one day, we will no longer be able to live on our beloved earth. In addition, the cost of this mission doesn’t come cheap, not to mention the cost of necessary training provided and establishment of colonies on mars. Like any topic in the media, controversy is always a given, but to add my personal opinion to the matter, I am ecstatic to see what mankind on Mars has to bring to the table.
